Masterworks 3: An American Celebration
November 2
Morihiko Nakahara, conductor
Sara Davis Buechner, piano
Audience favorite Morihiko Nakahara returns with all-American music, honoring the 100th anniversary of Rhapsody in Blue and opening with the Celebration Overture of local composer Greg Yasinitsky. The second half is given to dance, with John Adam’s tongue-in-cheek Cha Cha for Chairman Mao and Bernstein’s depiction of riotous sailors on shore leave in the Big Apple.
